Automatic movement
Most giant watches we offer carry an automatic movement. Automatic watches are charged by movement of the wearer's wrist. This moves internal parts in the watch which causes a main spring to be wound up. Once an automatic watch is fully charged, it usually has a power reserve of around 38 hours. Once an automatic watch loses its charge, it needs to be recharged.
Recharge your giant watch
If the automatic watch stopped completely, it should first be initiated by winding the crown clockwise until it starts to get tight. It is important not to over wind the watch. Once it starts to feel tight, the watch should be worn as usual which will complete the recharging process. A good example of a giant watch is the latest model of U-BOAT. SignSwatches offer two types of giant watches:
- Automatic watches
- Mechanical - hand winding - watches
Mechanical Watches are fitted with mechanical movements. This means they need to be manually wound by turning the crown clockwise - this process is usually done either once or twice per day. The goal is to maintain a high level of charge, while allowing the watch to wind down occasionally. Mechanical watches are often chosen by watch enthusiasts, as they represent the old traditions in watch making.
